A general term for resins made by condensation of compounds containing amino groups with formaldehyde. Important ones are urea-formaldehyde resins, melamine-formaldehyde resins, and aniline-formaldehyde resins. Generally, it can be made into aqueous or ethanol solutions. It can also be dried into a powdery solid. Most are hard and brittle, and fillers are required when used. |
