China's Great Wall of Miles is the world's longest-built and largest national military defense project in the era of cold weapons warfare. It embodies the blood, sweat and wisdom of our ancestors and is a symbol and pride of the Chinese nation.
It is said that astronauts flying into space once reported that there were only two human projects that could be recognized from observing the earth from the distant moon, and one of them was the Great Wall of China. The magnificent Great Wall of Miles is one of the wonders of the world created by the ancient Chinese people and a monument in the history of human civilization. According to historical records, since the Warring States Period, more than 20 vassal states and feudal dynasties have built the Great Wall. The first was Chu, which began to build the Great Wall to defend against nomadic or enemy nations in the north. Later, Qi, Yan, Wei, Zhao, Qin and other countries also began to build their own Great Wall for the same purpose. After Qin unified the six kingdoms, Qin Shi Huang sent the famous general Meng Tian to expel the Xiongnu in the north, connecting the Great Wall of various countries, from Yao in the west to Liaodong in the east, stretching for more than 10,000 miles, so it was called the Great Wall of Miles. This is the origin of the name "Great Wall of Miles". But what we see today is mainly the Ming Great Wall.
Qin Shi Huang used 300,000 people to build the Great Wall, creating a miracle in the history of human architecture. The construction of the Great Wall objectively played a positive role in preventing the Xiongnu from invading the south and protecting the economic and cultural development of the Central Plains. Mr. Sun Yat-sen once commented: "Although the first emperor had no way, the merits of the Great Wall were in later generations, and it was actually the Great Yu who controlled the water."
The Han Dynasty continued to build the Great Wall. From Emperor Wen to Emperor Xuan, a nearly 10,000-kilometer-long line was built from Dawan Ershi City in the west to the north bank of Heilongjiang in the east. Half of the distance of the ancient Silk Road was along this Great Wall, which is the longest Great Wall in history. In the Ming Dynasty, in order to defend against the intrusion of the Tartar and Waxian tribes, the construction of the Great Wall was never interrupted. From Hongwu to Wanli, 20 large-scale constructions were completed during this period, and a 6,350-kilometer-long side wall was built from Jiayuguan in Gansu in the west to Tiger Mountain in Liaodong in the east. (But according to reports, the pedometer of a Chinese person who walked the entire length of the Great Wall in 1990 showed that it was 6,700 kilometers.) The Great Wall has extremely high tourism value and historical and cultural significance. Now after careful development and restoration, Shanhaiguan, Juyongguan Badaling, Simatai, Mutianyu, Jiayuguan and other places have become well-known tourist attractions at home and abroad. Looking high and far, with ancient Huaiyou, the golden iron horse of the ancient battlefield seems to be in front of you. Today, the Great Wall, the pyramids of Egypt, the Colosseum of Rome, and the Leaning Tower of Pisa in Italy are equally known as the Seven Wonders of the World. They are monuments and wisdom crystallization of the ancient culture of the Chinese nation, symbolizing the blood and national spirit of the Chinese nation.
