Girls travel to China with their parents simply because
A pair of sunglasses, a small climbing pole, a 2.5-kilogram backpack... Yesterday, on Jiefangbei Pedestrian Street in Yuzhong District, a thin and black little girl attracted the attention of many passers-by.
The little one is an Internet celebrity known as China's smallest backpacker - Wenwen, a 4-year-old girl from Xinzhou District, Shangrao City, Jiangxi Province, who is said to have been hiking with her parents since she was 1.5 and has traveled half of China.
In response to many online doubts, Wenwen's parents said that although their education methods are unconventional, they are not tiger parents.
Walk 15 kilometers a day?
There is no strict watch, the itinerary is random, and you will rest when you are tired.
At 10 p.m. on the 15th, a reporter from the Chongqing Evening News called Wenwen's father, Pan Tufeng, and he said softly: "I only arrived in Chongqing yesterday. Wenwen had a good time and just slept. She has to sleep 12 hours a day. We will see you later."
At 10:40 on the 16th, at a noodle shop on Jiefangbei Pedestrian Street, 39-year-old Pan Tufeng ordered a bowl of three taels of beef noodles. Wenwen ate the meat first, then Hula La noodles. About 15 minutes, a small pinch of noodles was left.
Wenwen, who has short hair, looks like a boy. Are you tired of walking so much every day? A reporter from Chongqing Evening News asked Wenwen, and the little one immediately said, "If you are tired, just take a rest."
"For half a year, my daughter and I go outside and go home every two to three months. At first, like other children, she got tired after walking for a long time, but after exercising for a long time, she naturally kept up," Pan Tufeng said.
Pan Tufeng said that they often change the itinerary for their daughter. "This time we left in October and were going to go home at the end of November. We originally planned to go to Laos, but we went to Thailand temporarily. We were going to stay in Thailand for half a month, but my daughter liked the sea and stayed for one month." Pan Tufeng said: "We are all casual, and we don't have so many rules. It doesn't mean that we have to walk 15 kilometers every day."
Never hugged on the way?
Not hugging her doesn't mean not loving her, let her learn to be independent and brave is the most important thing
Walking on the road, father and daughter followed one another, always keeping a distance of about 2 meters. When crossing the road, Wenwen grabbed Pan Tufeng's clothes by the corner. After walking on the zebra crossing, Wenwen let go and walked by herself.
Throughout the entire process, Pan Tufeng never held Wenwen's hand or held her. "She would hold me if she didn't feel safe," Pan Tufeng said. "But when walking on the Sichuan-Tibet line, she and her brother didn't obey the traffic rules and were beaten by me."
When she arrived at KFC, "I want to eat French fries, okay? Promise!" Wenwen, who repeatedly rubbed in her father's arms, finally got 10 yuan from Pan Tufeng. When she got the money, she immediately jumped to buy French fries. Line up, pay, and serve plates by herself. When eating French fries, Wenwen also stuffed a few for her father to eat.
After coming out of KFC, Wenwen was attracted by the roadside store. "I want to buy a skirt, Dad." Wenwen showed her coquettish ability again, dragging and dragging, but this time Pan Tufeng ignored her. Less than a minute later, Wenwen let go of her hand, held her mouth and followed her father again.
"When a child cries, the parents say yes to everything," says Mr. Pan. "In our case, it doesn't work. If her request is unreasonable and she wants to cry, I wait for her to finish crying and then reason with her later. After a few more times, she knows enough is enough."
At first, Mr. Pan said, he would carry Wenwen around, but after she was more than a year old and could walk on her own, he rarely hugged her when traveling abroad. By the age of about 3, he had barely hugged her again. "Not hugging her doesn't mean not loving her. It's the most important thing for her to learn to be independent and brave."
Don't let children go to kindergarten?
I don't want her to grow into a good baby, and the annual travel cost is at least 200,000 yuan
Pan Tufeng has a high school degree and his wife has a college degree. They have done motorcycle business, but later switched to micro-business and sold honey, with considerable economic benefits.
"My wife and I love to travel, especially hiking. After changing careers, we have free working hours, so Wenwen has been following us everywhere since she was a little over a year old," Pan Tufeng said as he dug up his WeChat account. A reporter from the Chongqing Evening News found that Wenwen has been to Yunnan, Guangxi, Guizhou, Sichuan, Chongqing, Xizang, Guangdong and other places.
"I don't want to go to kindergarten, I want to go to the beach." Wenwen heard the reporter mention the kindergarten and immediately said it in vain.
Pan Tufeng calculated that if his daughter went to kindergarten, it would cost about 20,000 yuan a year. "We are not poor travel, nor are we luxury travel. If we don't go to kindergarten, we travel everywhere, even if we stay in youth hostels and sleep in tents, it will cost at least 200,000 yuan a year." Pan Tufeng said: "My wife and I don't think it is worth giving 20,000 yuan to kindergarten, we don't want her to grow up to be a good baby."
Yuan Rui, the mother, said Wenwen's older brother attended kindergarten before elementary school, but spent the last few semesters following them around like this. "My son couldn't write a word before going to elementary school, and he barely passed the Chinese test in the preschool exam. Now he is in middle school, and because of his good hiking physique, he has never caught a cold. I hope my child will be exposed to nature more than books before studying, and her curiosity about all things will drive her to learn."
"Some netizens say that we are selfish and force our hobbies and dreams on our children. Others say that such a young child can rest assured to hike the Sichuan-Tibet line! The child has always exercised, and we have never traveled blindly, including going to the plateau. She also had a fever and fell ill while traveling, but this is unavoidable when everyone grows up," Pan Tufeng said. "No matter what she does in the future, I think as long as she is happy. Now what I want to cultivate is that she has the ability to think independently and has good qualities."
Want to become famous with your children?
Internet celebrities just happen to want to give some experience to other parents who want to take their kids hiking
Wenwen every place, there will be media reports, many netizens questioned Wenwen parents rely on children to become famous.
"Our lives didn't change before and after we became famous, and we didn't rely on our daughter to sell honey. In fact, Wenwen's fame was also a coincidence," says her mother Yuan Rui. "When we were in Jiangxi, a friend was self-media. When he heard our story, he persuaded us to do an interview. At first we refused, but later we thought he had a point. Maybe our education method is not necessarily correct, but at least we can give some experience to other parents who want to take their children on hikes."
Mr. Liu, who lives in Hangzhou, Zhejiang, is a high school English teacher. "My child didn't go to kindergarten, and he was taken out to travel when he was over a year old. I agree with Mr. Pan's educational philosophy of letting children get in touch with nature, so I will consider joining in the future," Mr. Liu said.
Experts say
Non-public education is not necessarily a bad thing
"Bingxin said, let children not be afraid of the truth from an early age, and let children grow up naturally like wildflowers from an early age." Tan Gangqiang, director of Chongqing Xiehe Psychological Consulting Firm, believes that in full consideration of children's rest, Pan Tufeng let Wenwen more contact with nature and society. This kind of non-public education that integrates personalized and social education is not necessarily a bad thing.
Pan Sports Trauma Rehabilitation Physiotherapy Center Dr. Pan Xueyuan said that 15 kilometers per day is equivalent to walking for more than 3 hours for adults. If it is gradually guided and stop-and-go, such exercise is also allowed for children.
