Dong Mingzhu will step down as chairperson of Gree in the future
Recently, a "notice on the dismissal of Comrade Dong Mingzhu" circulated on the Internet, indicating that Dong Mingzhu had been removed from the position of chairperson of Gree Group in late October.
The reporter has just learned from the Zhuhai State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission that the "Notice" is true, Dong Mingzhu is no longer working in Gree Group, and will only be the chairperson and president and legal representative of Gree Electric Appliances (22.400, 0.00, 0.00%) in the future.
According to the notice, Zhuhai's Sasac issued a notice to the Gree Group board on October 18: "Comrade Dong Mingzhu is removed from the positions of chairperson, director and legal representative of Zhuhai Gree Group Co., Ltd."
The reporter inquired about the official website of Gree Group and found that no news related to this "Notice" has been released on the official platform of Gree at present.
The outside world is a bit confused about this adjustment. According to industry analysts, this adjustment may be related to the reform of state-owned enterprises and the fact that the leaders of state-owned enterprises are not allowed to work too much part-time. Dong Mingzhu was previously the chairperson of Gree Group and the chairperson of Gree Electric Appliances, a subordinate enterprise. Therefore, this adjustment is actually a normal arrangement within the enterprise.

Dong Mingzhu joined Gree as a business manager in 1990. In 1994, she successively served as the director, deputy general manager and vice chairperson of the operation department of Zhuhai Gree Electric Appliance joint stock company. In 2007, she served as the president of Gree Electric Appliance joint stock company.
In May 2012, Zhu Jianghong, the founder of Gree Electric Appliances, stepped down as the chairperson, party secretary and president of Gree Group, retiring completely, and Dong Mingzhu took over as the chairperson of Gree Group.
On October 18, 2016, Dong Mingzhu stepped down as the chairperson, director and legal representative of Zhuhai Gree Group Co., Ltd.
