in vitro study Nystatin resulted in a significant reduction in the adhesion of buccal epithelial cells in all six species of the Candida genus. Nystatin is an antibiotic that increases the permeability of plasma membranes to small monovalent ions, including chloride ions. Nystatin increases apical chloride ion penetration, and transepithelial transport of chloride ions is caused by transport across the basilar membrane of tracheal epithelial cells, which primarily reflects the activity of the cotransporter. Nystatin (400 units/mL) increased the basal level of transepithelial 36Cl flow by approximately 1.5-fold and eliminated the stimulatory effect of UTP on flow. Nystatin treatment also eliminated the role played by UTP-stimulated binding of the saturable basilateral Na-K-CL cotransporter, and isoproterenol-stimulated binding was only mildly inhibited by Nystatin. Nystatin significantly enhances endothelial cell uptake by regulating endostatin internalize-mediated clathrin. Nystatin enhances endostatin internalize and also increases its inhibitory effect on endothelial cell tube formation and migration.
