Fmoc-N-amido-PEG-CH2COOH, MW 2K is a PEG derivative containing an Fmoc protecting group and a terminal carboxylic acid group. The Fmoc group can be deprotected under basic condition to obtain the free amine which can be used for further conjugations. The terminal carboxylic acid can react with primary amines when using activators such as EDC and DCC to form stable amide bonds. The hydrophilic PEG linker increases the water solubility properties of the compound.
