Acid-PEG6-mono-methyl ester is a PEG derivative containing a terminal carboxylic acid and a methyl ester group. The carboxylic acid can be reacted with primary amine groups in the presence of activators such as EDC and DCC to form stable amide bonds. The hydrophilic PEG linkers increase the water solubility of a compound in aqueous media. The water solubility properties of the PEG chain are enhanced with longer PEG chains.
