N-Benzyl-N-bis(PEG3-OH) is a PEG chain with a benzyl protecting group and two PEG3-OH branches. The benzyl protecting group can be removed via hydrogenolysis. The hydroxyl groups can be reacted to further derivatize the PEG chain. The hydrophilic PEG chain increases the water solubility of the compound in aqueous media. Increasing the number of ethylene glycol units further enhances the water solubility properties of the PEG linker.
