Imirestat (AL 1576) is an aldose reductase inhibitor, used for the treatment of diabetes. In Vivo Imirestat (1 mg/kg) improves nerve conduction velocity but is without effect upon the resistance to hypoxic conduction blockade or the deficit in insulin-stimulated oubain-sensitive ATPase activity .
