HO-PEG-Valeric acid, MW 5K is a PEG derivative containing a hydroxyl group and a terminal carboxylic acid. The hydroxyl group can further react to derivatize the compound. The carboxylic acid can react with primary amines in the presence of activators such as EDC and DCC can form stable amide bonds. The hydrophilic PEG chain increases the water solubility properties of the compound.
