Polygalacturonase is one of the highly abundant enzymes among all the pectinolytic enzymes. Pectinase has a wide range of industrial applications including, fruit juice extraction and its clarification. In addition, it is also used in vegetable oil extraction, tea and coffee fermentations, bleaching of paper, in poultry feed additives and in alcoholic beverages and food industries. Application: Pectinase from Rhizopus sp has been used for enzymatic digestion of leaves. Used in plant protoplast preparation to digest cell wall prior to organelle isolation.
