有花香气味，遇光变灰色或棕黄色，能任意溶于乙醚、苯、冰乙酸和二硫化碳，1g溶于2.2ml乙醇、4.5ml丙酮，不溶于水。能与强酸生成盐。低毒，半数致死量（大鼠，经口）3000mg/kg。刺激性。硝酸盐、氯酸盐和其他氧化性物质的检定。铱的催化测定。硝酸盐的光度测定。氧化还原指示剂。单倍体育种培养基。制造染料。是硝化纤维素、炸药、火棉的稳定剂。 应用 二苯胺可以通过钯催化的分子内环化以形成咔唑。它也可以用作合成三苯胺的原料。 二苯胺可用于制备二苯胺试剂，其可用于通过比色法定量估测各种生物来源的核酸（DNA）
