碘化铊被用于汞灯以提高其性能。它主要用于水下照明，因为产生的蓝绿光在水中吸收最少。用铊、钠、铯碘盐制成的闪烁体作为辐射闪烁探测器。 Thallium(I) iodide is used in mercury lamp to enhance its performance. It is mainly used for underwater lighting, since the blue green light produced has least absorption in water. Scintillator made by using iodide salt of thallium, sodium and cesium is utilized for radiation scintillation detectors.
