α-TCP（α-磷酸三钙，α-Tricalcium phosphate）属白色无定形粉末。无嗅无味，粒度：2-10um。α-TCP成分与骨矿物组成类似，生物学相容性好，在生理环境下能发生降解，被组织吸收。溶于稀盐酸、硝酸、磷酸、乙酸、亚硫酸，生成可溶性酸式磷酸盐，也能溶于铵盐溶液。不溶于水、乙醇和乙醚。塑料稳定剂,制备磷酸及磷化合物。媒染剂。澄清糖浆。动物饲料。β-磷酸三钙广泛应用于骨缺损修复、骨替代等方面的科学研究工作。
