Kinetics of complexation of methyl 2-oxocyclopentanecarboxylate with Cr(III) in aqueous solution has been investigated.Methyl 2-oxocyclopentanecarboxylate was used in the synthesis of: 1,2-disubstituted imidazolylmethylcyclopentanol derivatives;methyl 1-(4-bromobutyl)-2-oxocyclopentanecarboxylate; methyl 1-(4-iodobutyl)-2-oxocyclopentanecarboxylate;ethyl 1-(3-bromopropyl)-2-oxocyclohexanecarboxylate.
