六方晶系结构,晶格常数α=0.5155nm。含氧59.5%~60.8%(at)。可溶于40%(质量)氟氢酸中,可为浓硝酸侵蚀,但不受浓盐酸,浓硫酸侵蚀,也不为浓碱侵蚀,和30%(质量)过氧化氢溶液作用,生成微黄色溶液。空气中加热于250~300℃转变为五氧化三钛。真空中1600℃加热钛粉和二氧化钛混合物或1500℃氢还原二氧化钛制备。亚钛离子本身是一种极好的还原剂。 用于研究医学植入物表面的外来异物接受度(bioacceptability)
