能溶于热水,冷却后成红棕色溶液,稍溶于醇,并呈棕光品红色;微溶于丙酮。遇过量盐酸生成棕紫色沉淀;在浓硝酸中呈枯桔黄色;遇氢氧化钠呈深蓝色,后变红色,溶于浓硫酸成蓝黑色溶液,稀释后生成棕色沉淀。水中溶解度(90℃)为25g/L。染色时遇铜;铁,色光影响较大。测定水硬度用指示剂,金属络合指示剂,测定钙、镁、钡、姻、锰、铅、钪、锶、锌和锆。 Mordant Black 11 is a dye suitable as a metal indicator. It is used as an indicator for complexometric titrations.It functions as an acid-base indicator. Eriochrome Black T forms complex with Ca2+ and Mg2+, but it binds more strongly to Mg2+ ions.
