A derivative of Diadenosine polyphosphate, which is stored in secretory granules of thrombocytes, chromaffin, and neuronal cells. Has been shown to function as a pancreatic cell secondary messenger, phospholipase D stimulator, change intracellular calcium levels, nitric oxide release inductor, 5′-nucleotidase activator and adenosine kinase activity inhibitor in vitro. Purpose P1,P4-Di(adenosine-5′) tetraphosphate ammonium salt has been used as a substrate for nudix hydrolyse. It has also been used as a ATP analog and nudix substrate for cleavage factor II Im25 subunit.
