(±)-Hexanoylcarnitine chloride is a cholinergic agonist and an intermediate in lipid metabolism . In retinal ganglion cells, acetylcarnitine and acetylcholine inhibited GABAergic responses to exogenous GABA and GABAergic inhibitory postsynaptic currents .
