溶于冷水、热水呈绿色，易溶于酒精亦呈绿色。遇浓硫酸呈黄色，稀释后呈绿色，其水溶液遇氢氧化钠成浅绿色沉淀。。溶于水和醇呈绿色。最大吸收波长623nm。半数致死量(大鼠，经口)50mg/kg。 1、酸碱指示剂，pH0.0(黄)～2.6(绿)。配制细菌培养基，用以鉴别大肠杆菌及其他乳酸发酵菌，培养分离粪便中伤寒杆菌等。 2、用于离子对色谱测定脂肪酸，亚硫酸盐测定。 Application Brilliant Green has been used for the staining of nodule initials in Lupinus angustifolius and Arachis hypogaea.
