醛固酮是一种基于孕烷的类固醇激素，由肾上腺皮质的外区(球状带)产生，作用于肾脏的远端小管和集合管，导致钠的保留、钾的分泌、水分潴留增加和血压升高。醛固酮的总体效应是增加肾脏中离子和水的重吸收。它具有小鼠代谢物和人类代谢物的作用。它是一种类固醇醛、初级α-羟基酮、盐皮质激素、21-羟基类固醇、11β-羟基类固醇、20-氧代类固醇、18-氧代类固醇、3-氧代-Δ(4)类固醇和C21类固醇激素。它来源于孕烷的氢化物。
