溶于水。16°C时100ml水可溶解25g；100°C时可溶解97g，水溶液呈弱酸性。不溶于醇。热至110°C以上时分解。强热时即升华。在纺织印染工业中用作树脂整理催化剂。作为气体助熔剂，以提供惰性气氛。又可用作铝或铜焊接助熔剂，用作镁和镁合金以及其它易氧化的金属铸造和精密铸造的砂型树脂粘接剂制造中的催化剂。还可用作阻燃剂及化学试剂等。
