Eph 受体的细胞表面跨膜配体，Eph 受体是受体酪氨酸激酶家族的成员，对神经元、血管和上皮细胞发育过程中的迁移、排斥和粘附至关重要。它能与邻近细胞上的 Eph 受体杂乱地结合，从而向邻近细胞发出依赖接触的双向信号。受体下游的信号传导途径称为正向信号传导，而表皮蛋白配体下游的信号传导途径称为逆向信号传导。与受体酪氨酸激酶（包括 EPHA4、EPHA3 和 EPHB4）结合。与 EPHB4 一起通过调节细胞粘附和细胞迁移在心脏形态发生和血管生成中发挥核心作用。EPHB4 介导的正向信号控制着细胞与表达 EFNB2 的细胞的排斥和分离。可能在限制纵向轴突的定向方面发挥作用。(微生物感染）充当 Hendra 病毒和 Nipah 病毒的受体。
