GABA 受体。该受体的活性由 G 蛋白介导，可抑制腺苷酸环化酶的活性，刺激磷脂酶 A2，激活钾通道，使电压依赖性钙通道失活，并调节肌醇磷脂的水解。在抑制性突触传递的微调中发挥关键作用。突触前 GABA-B-R 通过下调高压激活的钙通道来抑制神经递质的释放，而突触后 GABA-B-R 则通过激活突出的内向整流钾（Kir）电导来降低神经元的兴奋性，该电导是抑制性突触后电位后期的基础。它不仅与突触抑制有关，还与海马长期延时、慢波睡眠、肌肉松弛和抗痛觉有关。被 (-)-baclofen 和 cgp27492 激活，并被 phaclofen 阻断。同工酶 1E 的功能可能是通过竞争 GABA-B-R2 的二聚化来调节功能性 GABA-B-R1A/GABA-B-R2 异二聚体的可用性。这可以解释某些小分子配体对中枢和外周位点表现出不同亲和力的现象。
