五聚体配体门控氯离子通道的 Rho 亚基，负责介导脑内主要抑制性神经递质γ-氨基丁酸（GABA）的作用。含 Rho 的 GABA 门控氯离子通道是 GABA（A）受体（GABAAR）的一个亚类，完全由 Rho 亚基组成，GABA 分子与 Rho 亚基间的界面结合。当被 GABA 激活时，rho-GABAARs 会选择性地允许氯离子顺着其电化学梯度流过细胞膜。Rho-1 亚基主要在视网膜中表达，含有 Rho-1 的 GABAARs 可能在视网膜神经传递中发挥作用。Rho-1 GABAARs 还参与小脑浦肯野神经元的神经元强直（突触外）和相位（突触）传递。Rho-1 GABAARs还可能通过控制突触外传递来调节小脑胶质细胞的发育。
