3-beta-HSD 是一种双功能酶，可催化 Delta(5)-ene-3-beta-hydroxy 类固醇的氧化转化和酮类固醇的氧化转化。3-beta-HSD 酶系统在各类激素类固醇的生物合成过程中发挥着至关重要的作用。它能有效催化孕烯醇酮向黄体酮、17-α-羟基孕烯醇酮向 17-α-羟基黄体酮、DHEA 向 4-雄烯二酮、双氢睾酮向 5-α-雄甾烷-3β,17β-二醇、脱氢表雄酮向雄烯二酮以及 5-α-雄甾烷-3β,17β-二醇向 5-α-双氢睾酮的转化。
