肝素依赖性丝氨酸蛋白酶抑制剂，可在体液和分泌物中发挥作用。通过与丝氨酸蛋白酶的激活位点不可逆地结合，使丝氨酸蛋白酶失活。参与调节血管内和血管外蛋白水解活性。在血浆中发挥止血作用。通过抑制抗凝剂活化蛋白 C 因子以及凝血酶/血栓调节蛋白复合物生成的活化蛋白 C 因子，成为一种促凝和促炎因子。通过抑制凝血酶原、凝血因子 XI、凝血因子 Xa、血浆钙激酶和纤维蛋白溶解酶（如组织型和尿液型纤溶酶原激活剂）等血液凝固因子，发挥抗凝因子的作用。在精浆中，能使几种与生殖系统有关的丝氨酸蛋白酶失活。抑制丝氨酸缩丙酮；间接保护男性生殖道的成分，使其不被过度释放的缩丙酮降解。抑制组织型和尿液型纤溶酶原激活剂、前列腺特异性抗原和卡利克雷因的活性；对精子的活力和受精具有控制作用。抑制活化蛋白 C 催化的 SEMG1 和 SEMG2 降解；在精子从男性生殖道转移到女性生殖道的过程中，调节精蛋白硒的降解。在尿液中，可抑制尿液型纤溶酶原激活剂和纤溶酶原活性。使膜锚定丝氨酸蛋白酶（如 MPRSS7 和 TMPRSS11E）失活。抑制尿液型纤溶酶原激活剂依赖的肿瘤细胞侵袭和转移。通过与视黄酸结合，还可作为疏水性荷尔蒙载体在精浆和尿液中发挥非抑制作用。
