线粒体核糖体（mitoribosome）是一种大型核糖核蛋白复合体，负责在线粒体内合成蛋白质。翻译后：MRPL32 前体由 m-AAA 蛋白酶（由 AFG3L2 和 SPG7 组成）加工，该蛋白酶可裂解 N 端转运肽。m-AAA 蛋白酶的裂解作用发生在组装成大亚基之前，这是线粒体核糖体（mitoribosome）组装的重要步骤。m-AAA蛋白酶的正确处理依赖于MRPL32紧密折叠的C-末端结构域中的锌结合区：锌依赖性折叠阻止了从N-末端开始的降解，并触发成熟MRPL32的释放（相似）。
