It is a water soluble compound that crystallizes to form a hexahydrate. It is majorly utilized in organic synthesis as a catalyst and a precursor. Application NiCl 2 can be used in the form of a nanoparticle for the development of separation membranes for the wastewater treatment. It can also be used to form an electron with sodium ions for the fabrication of sodium nickel chloride based batteries.
