It is light-sensitive in nature and is quite expensive. It is used for the rapid detection of beta-lactamase enzymes in isolated colonies of N eisseria gonorrhoeae, Moraxella catarrhalis, Staphylococcus spp., Haemophilus influenzae and anaerobic bacteria.
