白色粉末。间苯二甲酸5-磺酸钠（5-SSIPA）通常用来制备适用于各种涂料的无胺的水性聚酯树脂和水性聚氨酯。通常，反应得到高酸值的水溶性聚酯树脂，再用胺中和后可得到水溶性的盐。用5-SSIPA合成的聚酯树脂为水性聚酯,归因于5-SSIPA的磺酸钠基团表现出的离子特性。芳香族二元酸的结构和伊士曼PIA(精制间苯二甲酸)相似。芳环结构赋予了涂层出色的硬度和高光泽度。与5-SSIPA相似的锂离子化合物，是一种极性更高的单体，能够赋予树脂更强的水溶解性，所以使用时添加量更小。5-SSIPA是合成食品包装粘合剂用聚酯树脂的单体,这方面已得到FDA认可。特性： · 水分散型树脂不需使用胺中和剂 · 涂层具有出色的硬度和高度光泽性。 · 提高了聚酯和尼龙纤维的可着色性和耐光性。 · 使PET瓶装油墨有更好的适印性 · 出色的磁带的层间粘结力
