QStatin binds tightly to SmcR and changes the flexibility of the protein, thus altering its transcription regulatory activity. QStatin shows pan-QS (Vibrio quorum sensing) inhibitory activity in diverse Vibrio species and attenuates their virulence in an aquatic host.
