It exists on the cell surface and contributes to the ECM structure. This product includes three functional regions: cell binding domain, heparin binding domain and CS1 site. It consists of 574 amino acids and has a molecular weight of 63 kDa. It can greatly improve the infection efficiency of retroviral infection of mammalian cells. Its working principle is: VLA-4 and VLA-5 on the cell surface can bind to the CS-1 site and cell binding domain on this product respectively, and the retroviral vector can bind to the heparin binding domain. On the surface of the culture container coated with this product, cells and viral vectors coexist at high concentrations, thereby improving the efficiency of gene transfection. When coated on the surface of the cell culture dish, the transfection ability of mammalian and insect cells is significantly enhanced.

Fibronectins bind cell surfaces and various compounds including collagen, fibrin, heparin, DNA, and actin. Fibronectins are involved in cell adhesion, cell motility, opsonization, wound healing, and maintenance of cell shape. Involved in osteoblast compaction through the fibronectin fibrillogenesis cell-mediated matrix assembly process, essential for osteoblast mineralization. Participates in the regulation of type I collagen deposition by osteoblasts. Acts as a ligand for the LILRB4 receptor, inhibiting FCGR1A/CD64-mediated monocyte activation. Post-translational: Sulfated. It is not known whether both or only one of Thr-2064 and Thr-2065 are/is glycosylated.
