IFN-ω is a member of the type I interferon family, that can be induced by virus infected leukocytes and exert antiviral and anti-proliferative activities. IFN-ω shares about 75% sequence homology with IFN-α. There are two conserved disulfide bonds that are necessary for full biological activity.

Measure by its ability to induce cytotoxicity in TF-1 cells. The ED50 for this effect is 0.02 ng/mL.
