生化机理

与 patched（PTC）受体结合，该受体与 smoothened（SMO）共同激活靶基因的转录。在缺乏 SHH 的情况下，PTC 可抑制 SMO 的组成信号活性。它还能调节另一个靶基因--gli 致癌基因。细胞间信号对发育过程中的各种模式化事件至关重要：由脊索产生的信号可诱导神经管和体节中腹侧细胞的命运，也是发育中肢芽前后轴模式化的极化信号。同时具有底板和运动神经元诱导活性。运动神经元诱导所需的 N 产物阈值浓度比底板诱导所需的浓度低 5 倍。

生物活性

Measured by its ability to induce alkaline phosphatase production by C3H10T1/2 mouse embryonic fibroblast cells. The ED50 for this effect is 0.1-0.4 µg/mL.
