是表皮生长因子受体 1、表皮生长因子受体 2、表皮生长因子受体 3 和表皮生长因子受体 4 的配体。还可作为 FGF2 信号传导所需的整合素配体。与整合素 ITGAV:ITGB3 结合。在调节细胞存活、细胞分裂、细胞分化和细胞迁移方面发挥重要作用。在体外是一种有效的有丝分裂原。可诱导血管生成。介导 ERK1/2 磷酸化，从而促进视网膜晶状体纤维分化。翻译后Tyr-215 处的磷酸化调节 FGF2 的非常规分泌。通过直接测序确定了从第 94、125、126、132、143 和 162 位开始的几个 N-端。

生物活性

Measured in a cell proliferation assay using NR6R‑3T3 mouse fibroblast cells. The ED50 for this effect is 0.100-1.00 ng/mL. The specific activity of Recombinant Human FGF basic/FGF2 GMP is >8.0 x 10^5 IU/mg, which is calibrated against the human FGF basic/FGF2 WHO International Standard (NIBSC code: 90/712).
