It also has protective functions such as antioxidant and antibacterial effects and has a wide range of applications in cell culture. Transferrin exists in three forms: apo-transferrin (not bound to iron ions), holo-transferrin (bound to two iron ions), and partially saturated transferrin. This product is apo-transferrin and is suitable for iron-rich culture media. Application: It can be used in animal cell culture. Matters need attention: This product is for scientific research, laboratory and production use only, and is not intended for clinical treatment. It should not be used for animals and humans.

Transferrins are iron binding transport proteins which can bind two Fe(3+) ions in association with the binding of an anion, usually bicarbonate. It is responsible for the transport of iron from sites of absorption and heme degradation to those of storage and utilization. Serum transferrin may also have a further role in stimulating cell proliferation.
