Contraindications and precautions of moxibustion and moxibustion
Moxibustion is more flexible for health care, and you can choose the time of moxibustion according to your actual situation and comfort.
Methods of moxibustion
The methods of moxibustion mainly include direct moxibustion, indirect moxibustion, moxibustion, warm acupuncture, warm moxibustion, etc. The detailed operation methods are as follows:
Direct moxibustion:
It is to put moxa cones of suitable size directly on the skin for moxibustion. If the skin needs to be burned and purulent during moxibustion, and those who leave scars after healing are called scar moxibustion. If the skin does not burn and purulent and does not leave scars, it is called scar-free moxibustion.
(1) Scar moxibustion. Also known as suppurative moxibustion: When applying moxibustion, first apply a small amount of garlic juice to the acupoints of the moxibustion to increase adhesion and irritation, and then place moxa sticks of appropriate size on the acupoints, and ignite the moxa sticks with fire to apply moxibustion. Each strong moxa cone must be burned out, and after removing the ashes, it can continue to be easy to live and then moxibustion, until the specified number of moxibustion is completed. During moxibustion, the skin can be burned due to fire, so severe pain can occur. At this time, you can gently pat your hands around the moxibustion acupoints to relieve the pain.
(2) Scar-free moxibustion. When applying moxibustion, first apply a small amount of Vaseline to the moxibustion acupoints to make the moxa cone easy to adhere, and then place a moxibustion cone of appropriate size on the acupoints to light the moxibustion. When two-fifths or one-quarter of the moxibustion cone is burned and there is a slight burning pain, it can be easily used for moxibustion. Generally, moxibustion should be done until the local skin is flushed without blistering.
Indirect moxibustion:
It is a method of applying moxibustion by separating the moxa cone from the skin of the moxibustion acupoints with drugs. Such as ginger interval moxibustion, salt barrier moxibustion, etc.
(1) Ginger moxibustion. Cut fresh ginger into thin slices with a diameter of about 2-3 cm and a thickness of about 0.2-0 cm, stab several holes with acupuncture in the middle, then place the ginger slices on the acupoints or affected areas to be moxibustion, and then place the moxa cone on the ginger slices to ignite moxibustion. When the moxa is burnt out, it is easy to apply moxibustion. After moxibustion, the required number of strong pieces is completed to make the skin ruddy without foaming.
(2) Garlic moxibustion. Use fresh garlic head, cut into thin slices with a thickness of 0.2-0 cm, puncture several holes with acupuncture in the middle, and then place the moxibustion cone on the garlic slice, ignite the moxibustion. When the moxibustion cone is burnt out, it is easy to moxibustion again until the specified number of strong moxibustion is completed.
(3) Salt-separated moxibustion. Fill the umbilical with pure salt, or place a thin ginger slice on the salt, and place a large moxa cone on it for moxibustion.
(4) aconite cake moxibustion. The aconite is ground into powder, mixed with wine to make an aconite cake with a diameter of about 3 cm and a thickness of about 0.8 cm, with acupuncture holes in the middle, placed on the acupoints or affected areas that should be moxibustion, and then moxibustion with moxa sticks on it until the number of strong as specified is completed.
Moxa stick moxibustion:
It is to take 24 grams of pure and soft moxa velvet, lay it tiled on a fine straw paper 26 cm long and 20 cm wide, and roll it into a cylindrical moxa roll with a diameter of about 1.5 cm. It is required to be rolled tightly, wrapped in soft and loose and tough mulberry paper, and sealed with glue or paste. Moxibustion methods are divided into warm moxibustion and finch pecking moxibustion.
(1) Warm moxibustion. When applying moxibustion, light one end of the moxa stick, aim it at the acupoint or affected area that should be moxibustion, about 2-3 cm away from the skin, and smoke and roast. Smoke and roast make the patient feel warm locally without burning pain. Generally, moxibustion for 5-7 minutes at each place until the skin is flushed.
(2) Bird pecking moxibustion: When applying moxibustion, the ignited end of the moxa stick is not fixed at a certain distance from the skin of the moxibustion site, but is moxibustion up and down like bird pecking. In addition, it can also be evenly moved on the ground, down or left and right directions or repeatedly applied moxibustion.
Warm moxibustion device moxibustion:
It is a cylindrical moxibustion tool specially made of metal, so it is also called warm tube moxibustion. The bottom of the tube is pointed and flat, the inner tube is covered with a small tube, and there are holes around the small tube. When applying moxibustion, put moxa velvet or mixed with drugs into the small tube of the moxibustion warmer. After igniting, buckle the cover of the moxibustion warmer, and then place it on the acupoints or the part to be moxibustion. Iron moxibustion until the skin of the moxibustion part is ruddy. It has the effect of reconciling qi and blood, warming and dissipating cold.
Warm acupuncture:
It is a method of combined application of acupuncture and moxibustion, which is suitable for diseases that require both needle retention and moxibustion. During operation, the needle is pierced into the acupoints to obtain qi, and appropriate replenishment and reduction techniques are given to leave the needle. Then the pure and soft moxa velvet is pinched on the end of the needle, or a section of moxa sticks about 2 cm long is inserted into the needle handle, and moxibustion is ignited. After the moxa velvet or moxa sticks are burned, remove the ashes and take out the needle.

The best time for moxibustion
Moxibustion is the only discipline with comprehensive physical and pharmacological effects among the five mainstream therapies of traditional Chinese medicine, and it is recognized as the most effective way to replenish yang qi in ancient and modern times. Moxibustion health is not only to nourish the body, but also to nourish the heart. Moxibustion is so good, so is there a time limit for doing moxibustion? When is the best time to do it?
Chinese medicine experts point out that the most suitable season for traditional Chinese medicine moxibustion therapy is summer. Because there are few clothes in summer, even if you don't go to the hospital, moxibustion at home is very convenient, unlike in winter when you take off your clothes and moxibustion at home. Moreover, the weather is hot, the human body is more sensitive to temperature and is not easy to be scalded. The most important thing is that moxibustion in summer is in line with the theory of "winter disease and summer treatment" in traditional Chinese medicine. Chinese medicine believes that people with yang deficiency and qi deficiency are more suitable for acupuncture therapy. Most of the people who are sick belong to the constitution of yang deficiency. Moxibustion leaves are warm and belong to the pure yang thing. Moxibustion can warm and clear the meridians, remove cold and dampness, and replenish the yang qi of the human body. Summer happens to be the heaviest time of yang qi in nature, and the yang heat of the Therefore, moxibustion can achieve the best nourishing effect during the peak of natural yang in summer.
Regarding time, moxibustion does not have a particularly fixed time. You can moxibustion at any time. Before and after meals, morning and evening, as long as you are not too hungry before meals, you can moxibustion half an hour to an hour after meals, and you can't moxibustion if you are too full or too hungry.
If it is moxibustion according to the course of treatment, it is best to moxibustion continuously every day for the first three times, 15-20 minutes for each acupoint, and then you can moxibustion every other day for 10 days as a course of treatment. The moxibustion time for children and the elderly should be shorter.
In general, moxibustion is more flexible for health care, and you can choose the time of moxibustion according to your actual situation and comfort. Under normal circumstances, the time of moxibustion with moxibustion strips can be shorter, and the time of moxibustion with moxibustion devices or moxibustion cans can be slightly longer because it is more gentle.
