Health regulations

Shaib told Xinhua News Agency reporters at the Palais des Nations in Geneva on the 27th that the International Health Regulations (2005) adopted in 2005 were originally scheduled to take effect on June 15, 2007. Schaib said that the unanimous resolution of the delegates attending the current WHO Assembly, agreeing to implement the relevant provisions of the International Health Regulations on avian and human influenza one year in advance, is respecting the wishes of these World Health Organization member states. She stressed that according to the newly adopted resolution, World Health Organization member states that voluntarily implement the relevant provisions must promptly notify the World Health Organization of human influenza cases caused by avian influenza viruses. In addition, national health departments must also establish special observation teams to be responsible for the implementation of relevant provisions.
