It decreases intracellular calcium levels in primary cortical neurons. In vivo Dehydroevodiamine·HCl (DHED) can improve stress-induced memory impairments and depression-like behaviors. DHED significantly improves learning and memory in the Aβ 1-42 -infused rat model. Antiamnestic effects of DHED occur through an improvement of learning and memory and an inhibition of neuronal dysfunction in a scopolamine-induced amnesic rat model. Furthermore, Dehydroevodiamine·HCl (DHED) has hypotensive and neuroprotective effects and modulates nitric oxide production.
